Your privacy is important to us. It is Kapps LLC's ("Kapps", "we", "us", or "our") policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you, including via our app, Journey — Weight Loss Tracker ("Journey"), and its associated services.
Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name and email address), your devices, and information about how you use the app.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect information you knowingly provide when using Journey, including:
- Account Information: Name and email address, and authentication credentials when you sign in with email/password, Apple, or Google.
- Health & Wellness Content: Weight entries (value and date), optional mood selections, optional notes, journal entries, and your goal settings (goal weight, target date, units, and milestone preferences). This is the core content you create in the app.
- User Settings: Your preferences such as units, appearance mode, notification schedule, and biometric lock.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use Journey, certain information is collected automatically:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage Data: App interaction data, feature usage, and error/crash reports.
- Log Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, timestamps, and general activity information.
Health Data and Apple Health (HealthKit)
Journey lets you optionally connect to Apple Health. If you enable this integration, Journey can write your weight entries to Apple Health and read weight (and, where the feature is offered, activity and resting heart rate) from Apple Health to display in the app.
- Health data obtained through HealthKit is used only to provide these in-app features.
- We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, and we never share it with third parties.
- We do not store HealthKit data on our servers; it remains on your device and in your iCloud Health records under Apple's control.
- You can revoke Journey's access at any time in the iOS Health app.
The weight, mood, and journal content you enter directly into Journey (as opposed to data read from Apple Health) is stored to sync across your devices, as described below.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Display your entries, charts, milestones, and progress;
- Sync your data across your devices, including your Apple Watch;
- Send the weigh-in reminders you schedule (these are local notifications and are not transmitted to us);
- Provide and manage your Journey Plus subscription;
- Diagnose technical problems and improve the app;
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not use your health, mood, or journal content for profiling or advertising, and we do not send you marketing emails.
Third-Party Services
Journey relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
Firebase (Google LLC)
We use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore to sign you in and to store your account and the content you create. Access is restricted by security rules so that only your authenticated account can read or write your data. See Firebase's privacy information.
Google AdMob (Google LLC)
The free version of Journey may display banner advertisements served by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads. Where required, you will be asked for consent, and you may choose non-personalized ads. Your weight, mood, journal, and Apple Health data are never shared with advertisers. Journey Plus removes ads entirely. See Google's privacy policy.
Google Sign-In (Google LLC)
If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (name and email) to create and secure your account. We never receive your Google password.
Apple Sign-In (Apple Inc.)
If you sign in with Apple, we receive the name and email (or private relay email) you choose to share. We never receive your Apple ID password.
Apple StoreKit (Apple Inc.)
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We store a record of the App Store transaction (product, dates, and transaction identifiers) to provide support and manage entitlements. We never receive your payment details.
Data Storage and Security
Your account and the content you create are stored in Google Firebase and protected by per-user security rules. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Google's infrastructure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our systems; residual copies in encrypted backups expire on our providers' standard backup schedule.
Children's Privacy
Journey is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Weight tracking is intended for adults.
Your Rights
Access and Correction
You can view and edit your entries and settings in the app at any time. For a copy of your data, contact us at hq@kapps.us.
Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app: Settings → Profile → Delete Account. This removes your profile, weight entries, settings, journal entries, and transaction records from our systems. Data you previously saved to Apple Health remains in Apple Health under your control.
Data Portability
You may request a machine-readable copy of the personal information you have provided by contacting us.
Marketing Opt-Out
We do not send marketing communications. Reminder notifications are scheduled and controlled entirely by you in the app and in iOS Settings.
Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by the safeguards required under applicable law.
European Union (GDPR) Compliance
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection with respect to your personal data. Our lawful bases for processing are the performance of our contract with you (providing the app), your consent (for optional features such as Apple Health and personalized ads), and our legitimate interests (securing and improving the app). California Privacy Compliance (US)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals at this time.
Categories of Information Collected in the Past 12 Months
- Identifiers: Name, email address, device identifiers.
- Health & Wellness Content: Weight, mood, notes, journal entries, goals (as provided by you).
- Commercial Information: Subscription transaction records.
- Internet Activity: App usage data, feature interactions.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version.

Business Transfers
If Kapps is acquired, merged, or enters bankruptcy, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. The acquiring entity will continue to honor the commitments made in this Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of Journey after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
